April 22, 2025

This Earth Day theme, Our Power, Our Planet, invites the world to unite behind renewable energy and commit to tripling the global generation of clean electricity by 2030! At Air Aware Labs, we understand that clean energy is not only vital for a sustainable planet but also for the health of the air we breathe. As Earth Day 2025 focuses on accelerating renewable energy, we’re proud to contribute by empowering individuals to track and improve their air quality exposure in real time. We believe that this increased awareness of the risks posed to individuals also contributes to public demand for clean energy solutions.

Clean energy growth

In 2024, clean energy sources met over 40% of global electricity demand for the first time since the 1940s, marking a significant milestone in the transition to renewable energy. This progress was driven primarily by rapid expansions in solar and wind power. While hydroelectric power remains the largest renewable source, supplying 14% of global electricity, wind energy contributed just over 8%.

Beyond its climate benefits, transitioning to renewable energy also plays a crucial role in improving public health, as it helps reduce air pollutants like fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), which are linked to respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, amongst other health impacts. This shift not only combats climate change but also enhances the quality of the air we breathe. Renewable energy is key to both tackling climate change and protecting public health, and the progress made so far shows that a cleaner, healthier future is achievable.

Air Aware Labs

At Air Aware Labs, we believe that access to clean air is essential and achievable. AirTrack plays a crucial role in supporting this shift by helping people monitor and improve air quality. By tracking real-time pollution data, we empower individuals to reduce exposure to harmful pollutants, which are significantly reduced by renewable energy sources. Our mission aligns with the growing global focus on sustainability and public health, ensuring that cleaner energy translates into healthier, safer environments for everyone.

We’re proud to be part of the movement. Join us on 28 April, when our CEO will speak at the Southwark Friends of the Earth event for Earth Day—we’d love to see you there!
