A systematic review and meta-analysis of 26 studies covering around six million people found each 5 µg/m³ of PM2.5 exposure was associated with a 10% higher risk of Parkinson's disease, and each 15 µg/m³ of PM10 with an 18% higher risk (Tien-Smith et al., 2026).
