Air Aware Labs to provide air quality data for London Diamond League

As thousands of fans head to London Stadium for this year's London Diamond League, elite athletes will be preparing for every aspect of competition, from training and nutrition to the weather on race day. CEO Featured in Executives Diary: Louise Thomas knows impact won't get you funded

Louise Thomas knows the word “impact” will clear a room of investors faster than a fire alarm. She also knows that, on its own, moral urgency rarely moves a term sheet from maybe to yes. So when she pitches Air Aware Labs to potential backers, she does not lead with saving the world. She talks about the billions spent annually on health, fitness, chronic disease management, and performance optimization. Then she points to something those massive markets barely measure: the air people actually breathe while they exercise, commute, and live their daily lives. She is building a business on that blind spot. Not the feel-good story about clean air as a human right, but the hard commercial logic hidden inside eight million annual deaths from air pollution. The Blind Spot Worth Billions.

Yesterday in the UK, the NHS 10 year plan was unveiled. With a big focus on preventative health, we were happy to see the focus on air pollution. With the Clean Air (Human Rights) Bill - also known as Ella's law - having been reintroduced to Parliament this week, we are excited to see a cleaner world for UK residents. This is urgent, as respiratory doctors have been calling for in light of increased admissions for asthma attacks. We are excited to develop work alongside such clinicians to support those most affected by air pollution. Please join us on our mission - Personalising Air Quality, for everyone.

Hot off the press

  • this week we held the third of our strategy sessions with advisers and investors. We looked at our product development and commercial strategy. We were so busy strategising we forgot to take the obligatory picture so we've gone with our team picnic instead! Thank you to the wider team who provide so much guidance and support
  • we have continued our series of user stories with super-user Malcolm Buckley. We are always excited to highlight how users protect their health from the effects of air pollution through AirTrack. We are also talking to groups in London who are using AirTrack to build a case for campaigns
  • we made the most of London Climate Action Week, including a stand at the Climate Innovation Forum and joining excellent meetings on how businesses can support air pollution goals, as well as a further Clean Air Day bike ride! We have also joined the Global Sustainable Sport network to connect with further like-minded organisations.

Meet the team

This week we are meeting Kaushal Mody, who worked with us at the start of this year and has just rejoined. Kaushal says: "I’m excited to rejoin Air Aware Labs as a Commercial Strategy Intern, where I’m currently focused on expanding outreach to asthma clinics across the UK and supporting the development of strategic partnerships to scale the impact of AirTrack. In parallel, I’m working on building a streamlined KPI tracking system - from structuring outreach stages and partner priorities to automating dashboards that give the team real-time visibility into commercial progress.

"Through this experience, I’m looking forward to learning more about how digital health startups navigate the NHS ecosystem and what it takes to build strong, value-driven B2B partnerships. It’s been a rewarding opportunity so far, and I’m excited to continue contributing to the team’s mission."
