Air Aware Labs sets strategy

Welcome to the seventy-fourth edition of our newsletter, as we launch our circular cleaner route feature, meet our advisers to shape our strategy and continue our outreach to international sporting events! This newsletter is aimed at investors, collaborators, future hires and early adopters of our products.
The issue of air pollution during marathons is getting more and more coverage. We spotted this great piece from BBC and Clean Air Fund. Our analysis has shown the reduction in air pollution as a result of road closures but also the typical increase in ozone, especially for participants running later in the day. Poor air quality can impact marathon times by up to a few minutes, and the long-term health impact of training in dirty air is significant. We are delighted to help marathon runners around the world plan for cleanest routes and training windows. Please join us on our mission - Personalising Air Quality, for everyone.

Meet the team
This week we are meeting Ana Luiza Savi, MSc, our new Women’s Health Adviser. Ana is a Brazilian psychologist with an MSc in Reproductive and Sexual Health Research from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Ana says: "My work lies at the intersection of public health and technology, having collaborated with organisations such as UNICEF, UNAIDS, and the University of Oxford to design evidence-based interventions for behavioural change.
"My motivation to join Air Aware Labs is linked to the reality that women face unequal environmental burdens. Because women are more likely to be responsible for household chores, live and work near pollution sources, and experience economic hardship, they face greater exposure to air pollution while facing more barriers in meeting their health needs. Air pollution is also the second-leading risk factor for noncommunicable diseases, such as cardiovascular disease and cancer, where women carry a disproportionate impact.
"As a Women's Health Adviser at AirAware Labs, I am dedicated to raising awareness of how women's health is uniquely affected by air pollution and empowering them to minimise their exposure. Research shows that even small increases in exposure to air pollution can impact reproductive health, disrupting menstrual cycles, fertility, pregnancy outcomes, and menopause. To bridge this gap and turn these insights into actionable solutions, we are working with University College London to integrate users' insights into a pregnancy-based air pollution tracking application, turning lived experiences into practical resources that help reduce exposure to air pollution."
