Air Aware Labs gears up for launch day

Welcome to the fifty-eighth edition of our newsletter, as we are on the verge of launching AirCoach and land a partnership to provide air quality data at the upcoming London Marathon! This newsletter is aimed at investors, collaborators, future hires and early adopters of our products.
Air pollution shifts from one street to the next, rising and falling by hour as traffic patterns change, weather systems move through, and cities breathe in real time. A commute through a subway tunnel tells a very different story from a walk along a quiet side street. A run through a park bears little resemblance to exercising beside a busy road. Even at home, exposure is shaped by how outdoor air flows indoors, what pollution is created from cooking, heating and cleaning and how well spaces are ventilated. This is why we created AirCoach - to help people take the actions that will lead to the biggest reduction in their exposure to protect their health. Please join us on our mission - Personalising Air Quality, for everyone.

Hot off the press
- with final preparations for our AirCoach - 24/7 air quality tracking - in full swing, we have been delighted that over 30 people signed up to help us promote the launch!
- we are working with London Marathon Events to bring air quality data to elite and mass participants at this year's race on 26 April. We have also created this page on air quality and long-distance running. We will say more on this partnership in the next newsletter!
- we are finalising plans for our pilot with London Legacy Development Corporation, as part of the London Social Ventures Social Impact Demonstrator. We have also finalised our first employee wellbeing pilot, with Arcanys. And with our health economics modelling finalised with Medipex Ltd, we have been reaching out to respiratory companies, and preparing funding bids with respiratory doctors. Yesterday we pitched for a place in the second phase of the pan-European Impact Deal.

Meet the investor
This edition, we are re-introducing Richard Coates, who has provided follow on investment in our current round. Richard says: "In 2009 after a 19 year career in the energy industry, driven by a desire to develop myself whilst helping others via investment, my experience and time, I moved on to follow my passions of health, fitness and the transition to a greener sustainable world.
"Running has been a constant companion in my life, always providing me with stability and focus. I run my own running coaching business working with athletes of all levels on an individual / group basis, via charities and at training camps in the UK and abroad. Alongside this I’ve been running a gym with colleagues since 2011 whilst helped expand a bouldering and climbing centre chain in the Midlands since 2018. I volunteer as a running coach at London City Runners where I take great pleasure in helping runners and coaches of all ages and levels to develop their running and leadership skills whilst enjoying the sport they love.
"I have provided substantial financial support via capital and debt to numerous start-ups in my areas of interest, some successfully, some not so successfully such is the arena of start-up investment! I’ve learn as much from failure as I have from success. I am an active investor who doesn’t just provide support financially, giving as much time as I’m able to, to help the companies I invest in. Despite some improvement in quality in parts of the UK and abroad, poor air quality is still a serious issue for many. Air Aware Labs' mission to provide accurate and insightful data to help people make choices that will improve their performance and day to day health fully aligns with my core values."
