Step up for Clean Air

Ella Roberta Adoo-Kissi-Debrah was born happy and healthy in 2004, and by the age of seven was diagnosed with asthma. That familiar tickle in your nose, the escalating waves of sneezing, the relentless itch in your eyes… If spring in 2025 feels less like a season of joy and more like an allergy battlefield, you’re far from alone. As the government launches new guidance to support the creation of school streets, we have been looking at ways we can support schools and families to reduce the impact of air pollution on children. Children are highly susceptible to the effects of air pollution as they breathe more rapidly, are nearer car exhausts and often breathe through their mouths. And it's not just respiratory conditions: this recent study has shown the connection to eczema, from which many children suffer. Location of London schools doesn't help, with almost all being in places that exceed safe limits. We've been working with Camden to offer our app for parents and schools, and recently put together plans to work with a school in Westminster. We also look forward to a strategic partnership with HomeRun App to bring a wider offer. Please join us on our mission - Personalising Air Quality, for everyone.

Meet the team

This week, we welcome Lía Budnik our new Marketing and Communications Officer. Lia says: With a BA in Business Communication from Universidad ORT Uruguay and over four years in education, I combine creative and analytical skills with a passion for global impact. As Marketing and Communications Manager at ICF Uruguay, I enhanced the organisation’s visual identity, created results-driven content, and expanded brand reach using social media, WordPress, and data analytics. I’m thrilled to join Air Aware Labs as Marketing and Communications Officer! My proven track record in growing social media, SEO optimisation, and managing virtual events will help me excel in this position. I am particularly excited to deepen my startup expertise while applying my skills. Grateful to Louise Thomas and William Hicks for this opportunity. Looking forward to the journey ahead and being part of such an innovative team!
