Welcome to the sixty-second edition of our newsletter, as we start a major new accelerator, progress in an angel investment competition and continue to develop our products. This newsletter is aimed at investors, collaborators, future hires and early adopters of our products.

Our CEO has been reflecting on her journey to understand the world of air pollution. For the second biggest risk to health worldwide, awareness is surprisingly low. From the sources of pollution, to how toxic gases behave differently to particulate matter; and from the differential impacts on groups, to the enormous economic impact of health burden and reduced productivity - little is known in the general population. Our team is also going on this journey to greater understanding and aims to support everyone to protect their health. Please join us on our mission - Personalising Air Quality, for everyone.

Hot off the press

  • we were so excited to be selected as one of only three companies in the CVC DIF Allia Accelerator Challenge! Alongside our current involvement in the CatalyseHer programme, we have a range of support to scale our impact and commercial potential
  • we continue to build and test new features, including through our pilot with London Legacy Development Corporation. We've been collaborating with MSc students from University College London to do in depth research on how people engage with air quality data. And we've relaunched AirTrack, including the pollen feature, via Heka and HealthKey employee wellbeing platforms. We've started a series of posts showcasing all our coolest tech to help people reduce exposure to pollution
  • we got through to the semi-finals of the Transatlantic Angel Conference, organised by SIA - Startup Investor Accelerator. This means we are down to the top 12 companies out of over 40 at the start of the competition, and we excitedly wait updates on whether we are through to the finals in June! We also sent out our quarterly update to people involved in our investment processes last week - please shout if you wish to be added to the list!

Meet the team

This edition, we are re-introducing Roy Evangelista, one of our software engineers. Roy says: "Time really does fly when you're enjoying what you do - it's already been about a year and a half since I joined the team. There was a lot of excitement (and plenty of questions) at the start about how I could help deliver more value to the product.

"One of the highlights has been kicking off the AirTrack mobile app, where Sacha Manson-Smith, Daniel Catindoy and I shaped the technology stack together. We hit crossroads along the way, but the team's collective experience helped us navigate through them. Air Aware Labs' mission of helping people understand their air pollution exposure in a meaningful way motivates me every day to keep pushing on the technical side. As always, I'm looking forward to shipping more of what's on the AirTrack roadmap."
