Air Aware Labs hits half a million

Welcome to the seventy-first edition of our newsletter, as we grow users and uses substantially, build partnerships with health and fitness platforms and continue developing our product! This newsletter is aimed at investors, collaborators, future hires and early adopters of our products. And we now have 1,300 subscribers!
We are often asked what people can do to reduce exposure to pollution - as weather apps typically give the impression the pollution levels are the same across a whole day and region, which misses the variation we know is there. This interesting article by the BBC sets out what runners can do to exercise safely by better understanding the changing pollution levels. It also sets out the health impacts of higher pollution exposure, while a new study by Sleep Cycle has made the connection between outdoor pollution exposure and sleep quality. It is these impacts we want to reduce. Please join us on our mission - Personalising Air Quality, for everyone.

Hot off the press
- we have now surpassed 6000 AirTrack users, who between them have completed over half a million activities! We've also recalculated how many countries and territories we have users in, which has now reached over 115
- in one of those 115 - Uganda - we are partnering with Public Square EA to test our new data sets in their walks and runs, as part of our pledge for data in Africa. They have been highlighting some of our key features including personalising air quality data in Strava
- our CEO has taken part in a podcast on Sustainability in Education, organised by London Early Years Foundation (LEYF), setting out the impact on young children of pollution exposure and what can be done.

Meet the partner
We have started a series of introductions to our key partners. This edition we are meeting Altaïr Sheikh, Technical Support Manager at AirGradient Ltd. Altaïr says: "I’m Altaïr, and I work with AirGradient, where my role covers community outreach, customer and technical support. A big part of my work is connecting with researchers, organisations and communities using air quality data in the real world, and helping turn their needs and feedback into practical projects and product improvements.
"We first started working with the Air Aware Labs team because of our shared interest in helping people better understand their actual exposure to air pollution. We focus on making reliable, open air quality monitoring accessible, while AirTrack brings together environmental and activity data to show how exposure changes across the routes and places people move through every day. Our indoor monitor, the AirGradient ONE, is already compatible with AirTrack. Ultimately, the aim is to give people a much more complete picture of the air they breathe."
