Air Aware Labs to provide air quality data for London Diamond League

As thousands of fans head to London Stadium for this year's London Diamond League, elite athletes will be preparing for every aspect of competition, from training and nutrition to the weather on race day. This year, Air Aware Labs is adding another important layer to that picture by providing live air quality data, helping make the invisible visible for athletes, spectators and organisers alike.

CEO Featured in Executives Diary: Louise Thomas knows impact won't get you funded

Louise Thomas knows the word “impact” will clear a room of investors faster than a fire alarm. She also knows that, on its own, moral urgency rarely moves a term sheet from maybe to yes. So when she pitches Air Aware Labs to potential backers, she does not lead with saving the world. She talks about the billions spent annually on health, fitness, chronic disease management, and performance optimization. Then she points to something those massive markets barely measure: the air people actually breathe while they exercise, commute, and live their daily lives. She is building a business on that blind spot. Not the feel-good story about clean air as a human right, but the hard commercial logic hidden inside eight million annual deaths from air pollution. The Blind Spot Worth Billions.

At Air Aware Labs we are all about empowering people to understand and reduce their exposure to pollution. We are reminded about the need to do this on a daily basis, whether seeing how deadly pollution is affected millions across South Asia, the connection between air pollution and pneumonia, or the impact of woodburning. We continue to link our scientific insights with our empowering technology, to bring a new approach to personalised health. Please join us on our mission - Personalising Air Quality, for everyone.

Hot off the press

  • in Lisbon, we joined another Tech Talks podcast, attended Web Summit, and pitched in the finals of this Impact Shakers event.. then went straight to Nottingham to speak at an EIS Association event
  • to balance this outreach, we've also been focusing on more analytical working, including completing an assessment of our Social Return on Investment and working with a student team on our growth strategy
  • we've welcomed a new International Adviser, Agniprotim Sen, and new intern Caroline Graybill, who is introduced below.

Meet the team

This edition we are meeting our new intern Caroline Graybill. Caroline says, "I’m a junior at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles studying Economics with a minor in Studio Arts. I’ve always been drawn to roles where I can blend analytical thinking with creativity. Through my past experience in marketing, I’ve learned how to make data meaningful and communicate ideas clearly.

"At Air Aware Labs, I’m excited to explore how business and the environment can work together. I hope to bring curiosity and fresh ideas to the team while also increasing my skills and learning more about environmental innovation. I’m really looking forward to contributing and learning from the team."
