Here's the second in our series with our super user, Malcolm Buckley!
Buzzing bees, laden with golden grains and circling patches of flowers, are more than just a pretty sight. They are engaging in the important process of pollen collection, with each journey from plant to plant representing a dynamic interaction. But how does this intersect with air pollution? We investigate more here!
This Clean Air Day, we are excited to announce the roll-out for testing of our new Low Pollution Route Optimiser!
On World Environment Day, we investigate the links between plastic and air pollution. When we think of plastic pollution, we often imagine oceans and landfills, but plastic is in the air too. As plastics break down, they release microplastics into the environment, which can travel thousands of kilometres through the air - from cities to mountaintops. Recent studies show that the average person could inhale 16.2 bits of plastic per hour, which is equivalent to a credit card in plastic each week.
We pitched at the final of the Entrepreneurs' Award for Social Innovation from the Worshipful Company of Entrepreneurs on 27 May. We now have access to a year's support from the Company!
We are in the finals! On 19 June at House of Lords the annual EISA awards will be granted. Alongside some amazing companies, we will be in the running for the Best SEIS Investee company!
Ella Roberta Adoo-Kissi-Debrah was born happy and healthy in 2004, and by the age of seven was diagnosed with asthma. Sadly in 2013, Ella passed away, and her death, caused by a severe asthma attack exacerbated by air pollution, which led to a landmark ruling recognising air pollution as a direct cause of death.
We had a great app launch day event on Monday 14 April where we held a competition for who could track an activity on AirTrack with the lowest exposure.
The World Economic Forum asked us to write about the role of AI in reducing urban pollution. Artificial intelligence (AI) enhances how we detect and forecast urban air pollution by analyzing large, complex datasets from sensors, satellites and even crowdsourced data. AI tools offer personalized insights into pollution exposure, enabling individuals to make healthier choices in their daily routines. While AI holds great promise, its deployment must be inclusive and ethically guided – without careful implementation, it could exacerbate existing inequalities, especially in underserved regions.
This Earth Day theme, Our Power, Our Planet, invites the world to unite behind renewable energy and commit to tripling the global generation of clean electricity by 2030! At Air Aware Labs, we understand that clean energy is not only vital for a sustainable planet but also for the health of the air we breathe. As Earth Day 2025 focuses on accelerating renewable energy, we’re proud to contribute by empowering individuals to track and improve their air quality exposure in real time. We believe that this increased awareness of the risks posed to individuals also contributes to public demand for clean energy solutions.
We are so excited to launch our AirTrack app today.
World Economic Forum asked us to write about inspirational stories on air quality in the run up to the World Health Organisation 2nd Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health. City-based and health initiatives are helping major cities reduce air pollution and climate emissions. New technologies, such as AI tools for pollution modelling and hyper-local personalized tracking of exposure, are helping tackle air pollution effects. While air quality programmes have historically been underfunded, new commitments could signal a shift toward greater investment in future.
With air quality standards varying widely across the globe, how can we accurately assess the safety of the air we breathe?
We are recruiting for an AI Scientist (Environmental Health) 📍 Location: Hybrid (London in-person 2-3 days per week) 💼 Employment Type: Full-time💰 Salary: £40k per year + stock options
Covering just 6% of the earth’s surface, wetlands are vital for human survival. While wetlands are well-known for their critical role in supporting biodiversity, they also play an equally vital, though overlooked, role in regulating air quality and the climate. However, rising air pollution and climate change are putting wetlands under increasing pressure, threatening their ability to filter pollutants, store carbon, and sustain biodiversity.
On 23 January 2025 we hit one year old!
We are excited to announce that our CEO has been selected to be part of the Barclays Eagle Labs AccelerateHER Female Founder Accelerator. Over the next 9 weeks, we will be supported in our growth strategy, culminating in a pitch day in March.
We present an overview of AirTrackers' activities during 2024. The carousel will automatically scroll through and you can see where activities have taken place, and the levels of air pollution exposure by days and by sport. Seasons greetings to all!
As part of our user engagement, we undertook a survey to understand what brings people to our product. Here we investigate the findings.
